Lori Savitch

director, writer, editor

TV and radio news reporting was my portal to a career in broadcasting.  I tend to discount the role it played in my development as a journalist.  But I really shouldn’t.  It provided a terrific foundation.  The hour-by-hour deadline pressure taught me to be a faster, more efficient writer.   And when the segment is only 90 seconds long – and not one second more! – I learned to quickly find the heart of an issue, or the compelling element of a story.  And deadlines?  I NEVER miss a deadline.  After a life in TV news, on-time delivery is in my DNA!

After more than a decade as a reporter and anchor, I left TV news for more creatively satisfying work.  But people who remember my on-air days still ask to see my old anchor tapes – so here’s a sample!
